The real reason

Fort Worth's local rag, fondly called "the Startlegram" by the locals, some time back ceased running that great comic strip, Non Sequitur. This was decided following a move by the publisher to trim the size of the paper and was based upon a reader poll.

It was a rotten decision rooted in local bias. Wiley's sarcastic humor was offensive to the local wadded panty element. Strips like the one published today demonstrate why.

The same crowd attempted to get rid of Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury. Not much luck with that one. I guess a Pulitzer Prize lends a bit of weight.

Yep, and the fact that Trudeau routinely lambasts Republicans goes a LONG way to keeping it in the paper.

NFO, that causes me to remember Adlai E. Stevenson and that now infamous quote...

"I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them."

Gladly for Adlai!
