The price of it all

The traveling wall arrived in my neighborhood today. I hope the turnout is massive, but I can't do it. There are too many names I know. Once was all it took for me to recognize that I couldn't do it again.

The history is important to learn for those young enough and fortunate enough never to have had the experience, but for my generation the emotion is difficult.

The vets from today's wars will likely suffer something similar. One of these days, maybe, we won't have to fret over war memorials.

But we won't be alive then, will we?

And probably not our children either.

Thanks for a great site.

May I blogroll you?

I wish I believed that possible. I think I have lost courage for that hope.
