Al Franken is a comedian. That he could get elected says a bunch about the environment. Remember, that Minnesota also elected a faux wrestler who now does TV shows about some really weird conspiracy stuff.
Must be something in the water... or in the corn. All of this is pretty corny, and Texas ain't much different.
I continue to post this kind of stuff to illustrate that we no longer have real conservatives... just hateful, religionista whack jobs like Bachmann and this loon.
Quite possibly the last of the true conservatives, Barry Goldwater, once said, "Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."
The Republican party has been lost to the "preachers" since St. Ronnie ascended to office in 1980. The right needed the votes, but once allowed in they became like visiting in-laws and took over the place.

Yeah, and they gave us Al Franken, too.
Wingnuts and assholes of all stripes, apparently.

I don't see Franken going around spreading faith-based fear and loathing either.
